PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN VISITS KALMA CHOWK REMODELING CBD PUNJAB BOULEVARD PROJECT SITE

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, paid a visit to the site of the Kalma Chowk Remodeling CBD Punjab Boulevard project in Lahore. Led by the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as Central Business District Punjab (CBD Punjab), the project aims to transform the Kalma Chowk area, including the underpass, road networks, water supply, and drainage lines. During his visit, the Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on the project from CEO CBD Punjab, Imran Amin, and other senior officials. Originally scheduled to be completed on June 2, 2023, with a contract price of Rs 4.2 billion, the project has been completed ahead of schedule by one week, without any revisions to the PC1 and well within the allocated budgets and estimates. The remodeling work includes the Kalma Underpass with a length of 925m, the Ali Zeb underpass with a barrel length of 377 meters, and the CBD Quaid District with a barrel length of 280 meters. Additionally, the road networks covering a total distance of 4.98km have undergone rehabilitation. The main Kalma Underpass and the allied at-grade roads, such as Ali Zaib Road with Service Lanes, are now fully operational for traffic. Upgrades were made to water supply, sewerage, and drainage lines, along with the construction of two wells within the project area. A water retention tank with wells at Saint Mary's Park was also built. The width of the underpasses, Ali Zeb Road, Main Boulevard, and Saint Mary's Road has been expanded to ensure a smoother traffic flow. Present during the Prime Minister's visit were the Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Commissioner Lahore Division Muhammad Ali Randhawa, COO CBD Punjab Brigadier (R) Mansoor Janjua, Directorate heads of CBD Punjab, MD Nespak Dr. Tahir Masood, Brigadier Umar Farooqi PD NLC, officials of NLC, NESPAK, and other senior government officials.
